THE ‘ROUND THE MOUNTAIN CANOE AND KAYAK RACE—First start 11 AM:
START LINE: AMPERSAND BAY RESORT, located at the foot of Ampersand Avenue on Lower Saranac Lake. Parking is limited. We encourage you to do a pre race car shuttle to the finish line.
RACE COURSE: From Ampersand Bay, paddle westward on Lower Saranac Lake to the mouth of the Saranac River across from Bluff Island; proceed down river, negotiating a short carry around the lower locks, then paddle through Oseetah Lake to Lake Flower, to the finish at Riverfront Park. (Approximate distance 10.5 miles.)

RACE DAY REGISTRATION: At the AMPERSAND BAY RESORT, from 9:00 to 10:30a.m.
ENTRY FEE: $25 per person ($20 for AWA members) Pre-registration is encouraged and appreciated. Make checks payable to: Adirondack Watershed Alliance
PRE RACE SHUTTLE: For the ‘Round the Mountain - MAC’S Canoe Livery will coordinate pre race shuttles from the Finish Line across from Lakeview Deli back to the Start. Drop your boat at the start and take advantage of the shuttle. We recommend and request that you move your car to the finish line before the race. We have requested the Saranac Lake Police close off a lane of River Street for parking.
SAFETY: Every racer must carry a US Coast Guard approved life vest with them; this life vest must be accessible at all times (I.e. not tied to the boat!) If race officials determine that conditions warrant it, all racers will be required to wear their life vest throughout the race! Failure to comply will result in disqualification and forfeiture of entry fee.
AWARDS: Will be presented to the top three finishers in each class. The awards ceremony will be held as soon as the results are available.
