Adirondac Arc 9 mile flatwater race to Tupper Lake June 14, 2003 |
Adirondack Arc 9 Mile Canoes and Kayaks draws 74 boats
The Adirondack Arc 9 miler starts at the Route 3/30 Boat launch. Paddlers follow
the river downstream to the Route 30 Bridge before turning left to finish at
the Tupper Lake Rod and Gun Club. A combination of novice and experienced paddlers
competed across numerous boat categories. High water and moderate temperatures
led to many fast times across a competitive field. A large contingent of solo
kayaks and canoes made for some great races in those classes. Overall winners
included John Ders with the fastest kayak time of the day completing the 9 mile
race in 53:42; Jim Mallory with the fastest solo canoe time at 1:00:34; and
Bill Robinson and Alan Linck turning in the fastest tandem canoe time of 56:20.
