2012 RESULTS Better than predicted weather conditions made for a good paddling day on Long Lake for the Long Lake Long Boat Regatta on Saturday, September 22nd. Featured events included a 15 mile North American Voyageur Canoe Championspionship won by Team Dog Breath led by Alec Davis and Roger Henry; a 10 mile 4 - person College Cup Challenge won by a team from Paul Smith's College; and The Adirondack Kayak Championships won by Jim Mallory in the solo kayak Race and Doug Roode and Mike Finear in the Tandem event. Other races were offered for tandem and four person canoes.
The race was organized by the Adirondack Watershed Alliance with assistance from Long Lake Recreation and Tourism, the Adirondack Amateur Radio Association, The Long Lake Lions and the Adirondack Hotel.
The Long Boat Regatta wraps up another successful season of canoe and kayak races for the Adirondack Watershed Alliance. The AWA was developed to assure the continued promotion and organiztion of paddlesport activities; develop a stewardship network to enhance recreational opportunities and provide outdoor employment.
